Cuezy. is a producer and DJ from Ludwigsburg, Germany, blending Lofi, House, Boom Bap and Trap into a sound that bridges classic Hip Hop roots with forward-thinking electronic production.
His musical journey began early: classically introduced to piano at the age of six, he later discovered music production through the PlayStation game Music 2000 and the PC classic
Hip Hop Ejay, where he crafted his first experimental tracks. In 2009, he joined the band Half Hour Handshake as a synthesizer player, gaining hands-on experience in arrangement and live performance before stepping behind the decks in clubs, bars and small festivals across Southern Germany.
Deeply inspired by golden-era producers such as J Dilla, Pete Rock and Madlib, Cuezy. later absorbed the creative energy of the early 2010s SoundCloud era, where future beats, soulful R&B and house music reshaped his sonic palette. These influences continue to define his work — sample-driven, groove-focused, yet atmospheric and emotionally immersive.
Since beginning his solo career in 2017, Cuezy. has steadily built his catalog. His debut EP Vacation in Balconia (2020) marked the official starting point, followed by a series of singles and collaborations. In 2022, he released his first full-length album Paradigm Shift, establishing his reputation for conceptual thinking and genre fluidity.
His most ambitious work to date, Departure to Utopia (2025), is a vinyl concept album crafted over more than two years. The project invites listeners into a simulated reality where each track represents a different level — blending storytelling, philosophical undertones and detailed sound design into an immersive listening experience. The album received critical praise, including a glowing review from Stereofox, and marks a defining milestone in Cuezy.’s artistic evolution.

Interview
How did you get started in music?
I started playing piano when I was six, and that early curiosity quickly turned into a love for creating my own sounds. In the early 2000s, I got hooked on music production thanks to the PS1 game Music 2000 and the PC game Hip Hop eJay, where I experimented with my first tracks. In 2009, I joined the band Half Hour Handshake as a synthesizer player, which gave me my first taste of performing and arranging music. These experiences eventually led me to producing my own beats in Ableton around 2017, which really marked the beginning of my personal musical journey.
• Who or what has influenced you the most on your musical journey?
I’ve always been inspired by classic Hip Hop and Boom Bap producers like J Dilla, Pete Rock, and Madlib. But the golden era of SoundCloud in the early 2010s opened up a whole new world for me—introducing future beats, house, and soulful R&B sounds. Those influences combined with my early Hip Hop roots have shaped the unique sound I create today.
• What tool/software do you use the most in your production – do you have a favorite sampler or effect that you always include?
Ableton Live is my main tool. I rely heavily on VSTs like Serum and Arturia Analog Lab for my signature synth sounds. But I also love using my old Korg Micro X from my Half Hour Handshake days—it’s packed with quirky instruments, arpeggiators and textures that I can’t replicate anywhere else, so it often finds its way into my productions.
• You recently released the vinyl record “Departure To Utopia,” which received a glowing review on stereofox.com 😊 Tell us about the LP — how it came together, the process behind it, and its story.
Departure To Utopia is by far my most ambitious project to date. I spent over two years crafting it as a concept album, aiming to give listeners a fully immersive experience. The idea is that the listener is pulled into a simulation, where each track represents a different level, guiding them through experiences and philosophical ideas designed to expand consciousness. It’s an album that blends storytelling, emotion, and sound design, inviting the listener to step into a world of reflection and discovery.
• What do you enjoy outside of making music?
Outside of music, I love spending time in nature—hiking, cycling, swimming, and just being outdoors. I’m also a proud father to a three-year-old boy, a passionate DJ and vinyl collector, fueling my inspiration both in the studio and behind the decks.
